I’ve lost count of the number of people who’ve told me they don’t have a story, or at least not one worth telling.
And yet, I’ve never met anyone who didn’t have a great story.
In the last couple of weeks alone, I’ve helped craft stories about childhoods that were rich in experiences, art, culture and travel.
About a print designer whose love of clothes came from going to jumble sales with her Nana Pat.
A photographer whose passion was sparked the first time he saw an image emerge in a darkroom. In the time it took to develop the print, he had decided to leave his job and become a photographer.
And an interior designer who built a treehouse, in a tree, inside her home. And who visits markets all over the world, looking for inspiration, fabrics and photos she can use in her work.
Your story is fascinating to others because they haven’t lived your life.
The journey you’ve been on matters because it tells us what passion, life experiences and stories you bring to your work.
That’s how you differentiate. That’s how you stand out from the crowd.
YOU are your USP.
And you have a great story.
